Rupice, a diamond in the rough discovered amongst a pile of discarded documents

DOCUMENT DISCOVERY

Old documents related to both Veovaca and Rupice concessions were discovered in the disused Veovaca administration building:

  • Geological maps, maps of exploration adits, cross sections, drill logs (c.50 with all the data-collars, assays, geological descriptions), operations and other reports.

HISTORICAL EXPLORATION

Exploration included:

  • geophysics (IP – chargeability), costeans, exploration adits (barite sample sent to USA), and drilling

These indicated the presence of polymetallic mineralisation at Rupice.

EXPLORATION ACTIVITIES

Exploration activities in Rupice area commenced in 1952 and continued intermittently until 1990, initially focusing on barite mineralisation and later, polymetallic mineralisation.
